Diet Overview

Sticking to some dietary guidelines can really help set you up for a better ceremony experience. It shows respect for the process, demonstrates commitment to your healing, and prepares your body and mind to receive the medicine.

The Ayahuasca tea interacts strongly with your body's biochemical and energetic systems. Therefore, everything you consume or apply to your body, especially food, must be considered for how it harmonizes or clashes with these natural medicines and the work they aim to do within your body and energy field.

To maximize your healing and avoid negative experiences, we follow and provide a strict Ayahuasca diet. For the Ayahuasca tea to work effectively, you must be as clean as possible. By eliminating certain things from your diet, you cleanse your body physically and energetically, enabling the plants to heal you fully.

These guidelines also apply to the post-diet period, the time after your Ayahuasca retreat. In shamanic tradition, each plant holds a different spirit, and the work with Ayahuasca isn't considered complete until many months after the ceremony.

By working with plants, we not only access their biological healing properties but also commune with nature spirits. These plant spirits must be respected within the body, and following the Ayahuasca diet is essential in demonstrating this respect.

This is not to be taken lightly. Disregarding the guidelines can lead to illness or unpleasant physical, energetic, and spiritual experiences.

If you cannot follow the Ayahuasca diet, our retreat may not suit you. However, you'll be prepared for deep healing, teachings, realizations, and transformation beyond words if you can.

The following guidelines should be seen as a minimum. The more you prepare yourself and your body before your retreat, the more effective the experience will be.

4 weeks before drinking Ayahuasca, avoid:

  • Any recreational (non-prescribed) drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, and all psychedelics and psychoactive.

  • Pharmaceutical or over-the-counter medications

2 weeks before drinking Ayahuasca, avoid:

  • Fried foods or excessive oil Spicy foods, especially any chili

  • Fermented food (soy sauce, pickles, etc.)

  • Caffeine

  • Non-fresh (canned or packaged) meat or fish products

  • Liquid and powdered protein extracts

  • Brewer's yeast or yeast-based supplements

  • Dairy products (yogurts, yogurt-based smoothies, milk, etc.)

  • Overly ripe foods

  • Acidic fruits (oranges, pineapple, grapefruit, etc.)

  • Acidic drinks (orange juice, pineapple juice, cola, etc.)

  • Processed sweets and refined sugar

  • Excessive amounts of table salt

  • Pork and pork products, fatty pork, and red meat

48 hours before, NO SEX or MASTURBATION.

This may be surprising, but it is essential for a few important reasons:

  • During the retreat, Ayahuasca Tea will open you deeply and energetically, creating space for the plants to work, heal, and share their gifts with you.

  • Connecting sexually with another person involves significant energetic exchange. This openness may cause you to absorb energies that are not aligned with your healing and transformation.

  • Keep your energy to yourself to maintain the integrity and momentum of your healing. Men and women should also avoid self-pleasure during this period to preserve and strengthen sexual energy, enhancing healing.

This abstinence helps you focus inward, holding space for your healing journey, which led you to this sacred medicine. This time is also an excellent opportunity to remove anything from your life that doesn't align with your highest truth and potential.
